In this study, hybrid operation technology of combining air source heat pump and diesel heater was developed in optimal algorithm which was determining time for turing on the diesel heater according to the indoor temperature of greenhouse. Hybrid optimal operation algorithm was summarised as follow as; firstly, the heat pump should be turned on just below set temperature in advance and then the diesel heater should be turned on 2∼3℃ lower than set temperature. Secondly, the diesel heater could be turned off after raising the optimal temperature based on heating burden rates calculations before reaching set temperature and then the heat pump sould be turned off on set temperature. The main goal of the above algorithm was that making the heat pump running time longer so that the hybrid heating system could get better efficiency in saving heating cost. As a result of heating experiment for field application, heating cost saving rate was 53% in conditions of heating burden rates of 64% heat pump and 36% diesel heater compared with diesel heater’s running cost and the greenhouse temperature was controlled in the range of 0 ∼ 1℃ lower than set temperature point.
