The purpose of this study is to review existing literature of noun derivation in the middle Korean and to explore the further research questions that are still to be discussed. Limited literatures on noun derivation are found and thus review is open to literatures on derivation that included the discussion of noun derivation in depth. In this discussion, included is a comparative review of the lists of affixes that were presented in the existing literaturse. On the basis of the review, discussions extended to '-gi(-기)' that is related to noun derivation, suffixes '-dal (-), -nae(-내), -hui(-희)' that are related to plural meaning , and grammatical category of the bound morphemes affixed to a very limited numbers of nouns. This study shows that controversies are found on the concept of derivation, criteria of verifying suffix, and thus, the list of affixes. It also shows that some issues are still opne to a further discussion：some researchers regarded several derivational suffixes as inflectional endings or roots. The review suggests interesting research questions that include above-mentioned controversies.

본고는 중세국어 명사 파생법의 연구 성과를 정리하고 향후의 과제를 점검하는 목적으로 작성되었다. 중세국어 시기의 명사 파생법만을 대상으로 하는 연구가 드물기는 하지만, 비교적 명사 파생법 전반이 다루어진 주요 연구 성과를 검토하고, 향후 연구가 더 필요한 몇몇 주제에 대해 논의하였다. 우선 기존 연구에서 제시된 파생접사의 목록을 비교, 검토하고, 이를 바탕으로 파생과 굴절의 문제, 명사 파생과 관련된 ‘-기’의 문제, 복수의 의미를 더하는 ‘-, -내, -희’의 문제, 소수의 단어에 통합되어 단어형성에 관여하는 의존형태소들의 문법 범주 문제 등에 대해 논의하였다. 파생의 개념이나 파생접미사의 판별 기준 문제와 관련하여 명사파생접미사의 목록에 대한 이견이 있고, 몇몇 파생접미사의 경우에는 연구자에 따라 굴절접미사나 어근으로 분류되어 파생접미사에서 제외되기도 하는 등 논의가 필요한 부분이 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 본고의 논의가 중세국어 명사 파생법 연구에 조금이나마 기여할 수 있기를 바란다.
