This study is aimed at analysing the causes of preference and experimental characteristics of K-POP dance through participation activities among the adolescents as major comsumer layer of K-POP dance. The source materials have been collected in depth for 12 weeks from the notes written about field records and individual interviews which is oriented 7 research participants who are members of dance clubs, academies, and youth center. The sub theme and key words were extracted from collected materials through the inductive content analysis also known as a qualitative research. In addition, to verify this study, the results were derived from multilateral analyses, examinations and consultations between colleagues, continuous observations and a self-reflection journey. As a result, firstly, causes of preference are visual signification, disposable amusement, imitation and idolization for Idol, stress reduction, physical development and secondly, characteristics from participation activities are curiosity and exploration to other genres, distinctive establishments of ties, and team activities. Besides, the participants have been preparing for practical careers of their own with obvious purpose in the concrete.

본 연구는 K-POP의 주요 소비층인 청소년들이 K-POP댄스를 선호하는 이유와 참여활동을 통해서 경험하는 특징 들을 심층적으로 분석하는 데 목적이 있다. 이에 현재 K-POP댄스를 추는 동아리, 댄스학원, 청소년 문화의 집에 서 활동하고 있는 연구 참여자 7명을 대상으로 12주간 개별 심층면담과 현장기록노트를 이용하여 원자료를 수집 하였다. 수집된 자료는 질적 연구방법인 귀납적 내용분석을 통해 하위주제와 핵심주제어를 추출할 수 있었다. 또 한 연구의 신뢰성을 검증하기 위하여 다각도 분석법, 구성원간의 검토, 동료협의, 지속적 관찰, 반성일지 과정을 통해 결과를 도출하게 되었다. 그 결과 연구 참여자인 청소년들은 K-POP댄스의 선호이유에 대한 구체적인 요인 으로, 시각적인 의미작용, 일회성의 유희, 아이돌에 대한 우상화와 모방, 스트레스 해소와 신체발달로 나타났다. K-POP댄스 참여활동을 통해서 경험하는 특징에는 K-POP댄스를 통해 다른 무용장르에 대한 호기심과 탐색, 차별 된 유대관계형성, 팀 활동을 통한 실력향상이 나타났다. 그리고 참여자들은 자신에 진로에 대한 뚜렷한 목표의식 으로 구체적이고 실천적인 진로준비를 하고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
