This study explored factors affecting start-up intentions in university students in Korea and China. Six independent factors such as education for start-up promotion, culture promoting start-up, knowledge and technology capabilities, business administration capabilities, capabilities to get a job after graduation, and government policies were extracted and two dependent factors of comprehensive ‘start-up intention’ and ‘knowledge and technology based start-up intention’ were chosen for this study. From the results of analyses, two factors of ‘knowledge and technology capabilities’ and ‘business administration capabilities’ turned out to be the most significant factors in determining two different start-up intention. In addition, start-up promoting culture and government policies also significantly affected start-up intention. Also, the capabilities to get a job after graduation showed a proportionate relationship with start-up intentions. The difference of nation showed a mediating role in the relationship with knowledge and technology based start-up intentions.
