The purpose of this study is to discuss the relationship between death and education based on the philosophy of Bollnow. Humans are born, grow, and die. In pedagogy, the birth and development of human beings has been an important interest, but death rarely received attention. Bollnow attempted to see pedagogical phenomena in a new light by combining philosophy of life and existential philosophy. However, he focused on the positive side of various existential phenomena instead of seeing them as only negative and dark. Bollnow interpreted existential phenomena in human life in a pedagogical way, and realized the importance of discontinuous educational phenomena which did not receive attention in conventional pedagogy. Therefore, he interpreted various discontinuous phenomena in life based on pedagogy. This study was particularly focused on crises, and discussed how Bollnow understood the relationship between death as a crisis and education.

본 연구의 목적은 볼르노 철학을 통해서 인간의 죽음과 교육의 관계를 고찰하는 데 있다. 인간의 삶에서 죽음의 문제는 중요하다. 인간은 태어나고, 성장하며, 그리고 삶의 마지막은 죽음으로 끝난다. 교육학에서 인간의 탄생과 발달은 중요한 관심의 대상이었지만, 죽음은 관심의 대상이 되지 못하였다. 볼르노는 삶의 철학과 실존철학을 결합하여 교육의 현상을 새롭게 바라보고자 하였다. 그렇지만 인간의 실존적인 여러 현상들을 부정적이고 어둡게만 보지 않고 그 현상들이 가지고 있는 긍정적인 밝은 측면에 주목하였다. 볼르노는 인간의 실존적인 삶의 현상들을 교육학적으로 해석하여 기존의 교육학에서는 주목받지 못했고, 다뤄지지 않았던 비연속적인 교육현상의 중요성을 알게 되었다. 따라서 그는 삶의 비연속적인 여러 현상을 교육학적으로 해석하였다. 그 중 이 논문에서는 위기에 초점을 맞추면서 위기의 한 현상으로서 죽음과 교육의 관계를 볼르노가 어떻게 이해하였는지 논의하고자 한다.
