초록

영어

This paper classifies Korean equivalents of 「sareru」 form, a Japanese passive expression of verbs of Chinese origin, into four different Korean forms: 「doeda」 「batta」 「danghada」 and 「hada」. The result is that 「sareru」 form has three Korean passive equivalents including forms of 「doeda」 「batta」 and 「danghada」. To define the selection standards among the three passive expressions, the cases are divided into three: when only 「doeda」 form is accepted: when only 「batta」 translation is possible: when only 「danghada」 form is accepted. Furthermore, this paper questions the possibility of replacement among the three passive expressions to establish definitive selection standards of Korean expressions corresponding to Japanese passive verbs of Chinese origin. Previous studies of Korean active equivalents of Japanese passive expressions have explained the translation shift based on ‘the difference in perspective’ or ‘the difference in the expression structure’. This paper, however, analyzes two different corresponding cases previous explanations have failed to explain. 1. For stative Korean verbs of Chinese origin 2. For verbs of Chinese origin having no Korean equivalents of Chinese origin
