A Study on Advanced Major Course of a B.A. Degree in Air Travel and Tourism Related Majors

Advanced major courses were implemented in 1996 allowing junior colleges to provide a 1-2 year extended education period. The purpose was to provide graduates of junior colleges with an opportunity to continue their education. In 2014 the KCCE (Korean Council of University College Education) enforced a law allowing colleges to open advanced major courses and grant bachelor degrees to the graduates. In accordance, 76 colleges opened 401 majors with 7,701 new students joining the advanced major courses granting bachelor degrees. Between 2011-2013, four colleges offering Air travel and tourism majors recruited freshman for the advanced major courses. This study reviews the advanced major courses particularly in air travel and tourism related majors to provide a management plan which will assist in making the program a successful continuing education for the students.
