The global emigration of Koreans is elucidated, departing from an analysis of the historical background of the initial wave of emigration, this paper seeks to identify reasons for this exodus. Following enactment of the laws regulating emigration, emigration from Korea increased considerably. This paper displays empirical findings from Korean emigration research and statistics obtained from the Korean government, and, by examining this material, an understanding of the history of Korean emigration can be attained. Of paramount importance for this study is the concluding this paper which details the Korean emigration to Germany. The initial reasons for Korean emigration to Germany are explained, which necessitates an examination of the economic situation between Germany and Korea—the foundation for the relationship is to be found in the bilateral guest worker program. After the 1970s, with the rapid growth of the Korean economy, Korean companies established branches in Germany. By way of statistics from the German Federal Statistical Office, the situation of Korean emigration is described and compared with that of other countries.

한국인들의 국제이주를 역사적 고찰을 바탕으로 이주의 원인에 대해 명확히 규명하 고자 한다. 첫번째 이민법이 통과됨에 따라, 한국인들의 국제이주는 빠르게 증가했다. 한국인들의 국제이주를 경험론적 관점에서 분석하였으며 한국정부의 통계자료를 활용 하여 한국인들의 국제이주를 역사적 관점에서 이해한다. 또한 해외로 이주한 한국 이주 민들 중 소수로 분류되어 지금까지 많이 연구되지 않은 독일로 이주한 한국 동포들에 초점을 맞추고자 한다. 독일로 이주한 한국인들은 독일과 한국의 경제적 상황과 맞물려 시작되었으며, 국가간“초청노동자 프로그램”의 양국간의 계약으로 인해 촉발되었다. 1970년대 이후, 한국경제의 급격한 성장으로 한국 기업들은 독일지사를 설립하기 시작 했다. 독일연방통계청의 자료를 활용하여 독일에 거주하는 한국 동포들을 설명하며, 다른 국가와 비교한다.
