The purpose of this study is to recognize the parents’ roles and responsibilities, and to suggest several ways to nurture children for their relational spiritual development. This study focused on the relationships between children’s relational spirituality and parents’ religiosity, and the impact of parenting styles and variables within parental religious behavior on children’s relational spirituality by use of surveys. This study comes about through 181 Korean children between grades 3 to 6 who have a Christian father or mother and attend church schools in the Seoul and Kyeong-gi areas. The data was analyzed using correlation and multiple regression analysis using the PASW statistics program. Pearson r Correlation revealed that there were significant relations between children’s relational spirituality and parents’ authoritative parenting style; parents’ intrinsic-religiosity. The mother’s authoritative parenting style was the best possible predictive variable for children’s relational spirituality, especially their relationship with God, others, and religious behavior. The intrinsic religiosity of both parents, regardless of gender, were the best possible predictive variables for children’s relationship with God. Among parental religious behaviors, fatherly discipline of children within the biblical standard, mothers’ prayer for children, and mother’s serving others were the best possible predictive variables for children’s relationship with God. For relationships with others, fatherly discipline within the biblical standard and maternal prayers for children were the best predictive variables. For children’s religious behavior, paternal discipline and maternal serving habits and prayers for children were the most relevant predictive variables. This study suggests the development and practice of concrete and practical parental education programs to build up the relationship with parents and their children, to recognize and practice parental roles, to emphasize the importance of Christian families, and to enhance mature parental religiosity.

본 연구는 어린이의 관계적 영성 발달을 위해 부모의 역할과 책임을 인식하게 하고 자녀양육 방식에 대한 제안을 하고자 하였다. 어린이 영성의 여러 개념 중 주요한 개념인 관계적 영성과 부모의 종교성과 양육태도와 상관관계가 있는지와 부모의 종교적 행동 중 어떤 변인이 어린이의 영성에 영향을 끼치는지 설문지를 통한 조사연구를 실시하여 연구하였다. 본 연구에 참여자는 서울, 경기 지역의 교회학교에 다니며 아버지나 어머니가 기독교인인 초등학교 3학년부터 6학년까지의 어린이 181명이다. 설문조사를 통해 수집된 자료는 PASW 18.0(SPSS 18.0) 통계 프로그램을 사용하여 인구통계분석을 위해 기술통계를 사용하였고, 어린이 영성과 부모의 양육태도와 종교성과의 관계를 알아보기 위해 상관관계분석이 사용되었다. 어린이 영성에 어떤 부모의 종교적 행동들에 대한 인구통계적 변인들이 영향을 끼치는지 확인하기 위해 중다회귀분석을 사용하였다. 상관관계에 대한 연구결과는 어린이의 관계적 영성과 부모의 권위적 양육태도와 관계가 있었고, 부모의 내재적 종교성과 어린이의 관계적 영성과 유의한 관계가 있었다. 중다회귀분석 결과는 부모의 양육태도 중, 어머니의 권위적인 양육태도가 유의하게 어린이 영성, 특히 하나님과 타인과의 관계와 종교적 행동에 영향을 미치는 요인이었다. 부모의 종교성 중, 아버지와 어머니의 내재적 종교성이 하나님과의 관계에 영향을 미치는 요인이었고, 아버지의 내재적 종교성은 타인과의 관계와 종교적 행동에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 나타났다. 부모의 종교적 행동 변인들 중, 어린이 영성에 유의하게 영향을 미치는 요인은 하나님과의 관계에 아버지의 성경적 기준을 정하고 자녀를 훈계함, 어머니의 자녀를 위한 기도생활, 어머니의 섬김 순이었다. 타인과의 관계에는 아버지의 성경적 기준을 정하고 자녀를 훈계함과 어머니의 자녀를 위한 기도생활 순으로 유의하게 영향을 미치는 요인이었고, 종교적 행동에는 아버지의 성경적 기준을 정하고 자녀를 훈계함, 어머니의 섬김, 어머니의 자녀를 위한 기도생활 순으로 유의하게 영향을 미치는 요인이었다. 어린이의 관계적 영성발달을 위해 부모와 자녀간의 관계 형성, 아버지와 어머니 역할에 대한 인식 및 실천, 그리고 기독 가정의 중요성에 대한 강조와 부모의 성숙한 종교성 함양을 위한 구체적이고 실제적인 부모교육 프로그램의 개발과 실행을 사역현장에 제안하였다.
