The drum shaped bearing stone is one of them. It's an adornment which signifies people's status. In this research, we aimed to know the symbolic effect of the drum shaped bearing stone in ancient times, at the same time to find what influence it gives to nowadays' design and to know meaning of them. By this research, from learn the drum shaped bearing stone which been used at the door signifies people's status and exorcise evil spirits, and been wide used in today's design. It is a breakthrough to use it beside the traditional application so that made it can be more used in the future. People used it aimed to use it's lucy, boom, happiness, longevity, safe etc. and want it be true. It been used to show honourable and superiority because in chinese's thought it means that for a long time. It has been china's special culture and it will be soon used in other field. The drum shaped bearing stone record as an element of today's design know from the other cultural, just like the red which has been a symbol of China.

연구의 목적은 고대 중국 사람의 사회적 지위와 신분을 나타내는 상징인 대문의 문둔테가 옛 중국인들의 생활 속에서 어떤 상징효과를 하였으며, 현대 디자인에 어떤 영향을 미치고 있으며 그 함의는 무엇인지를 규명하는데 있다. 연구의 결과, 문둔테는 존귀의 상징이나 길상, 번창, 행복, 장수, 평안 등의 축복이나 벽사 등으로 사업 또는 생활과 관련되어 있는 바람을 현실화시켜 줄 것으로 기대한 상징물로서, 온고지신(温故知新)으로 고대중국인들이 지위와 벽사를 위해 건물이나 문 앞에 위치시켰던 것을 현대에는 다양한 디자인물에 적용시키고 있었다. 현대의 디자인에 적용된 의도는 이와 다르지 않았다, 문둔테는 공간이나 브랜드간의 우월적 지위나 효능을 대신하고 보증하는 역할로서의 상징이었다. 이는 오랫동안 중국인의 정신세계를 지배해 온 특정체계와 그 상징을 착용하여 다른 것의 존귀함을 말하는 기호 활동이었다. 이는 문둔테가 있어야할 전통적인 위치의 변경과 문화적 규제가 해제된 이유로 가능해졌고 결과적으로 더 많은 적용을 가능하게 하고 있으며 이러한 활동과 형식은 세계화되어 가고 있는 오늘날 중국을 중국답게 인식하게 하는 하나의 독특한 문화로 자리 잡게 하는 일련의 활동이 되어 가고 있으며 이러한 지속성은 또 다른 특별한 디자인 활동에 근간이 될 것으로 판단된다.
