Diffusion of new media Social Networking Service has made international communication networks popularized and has been able to acquire a lot of information much more quickly in public than using internet websites. The collection and diffusion of information through the SNS is to act as a catalyst in the formation of trends in art and design market but excessive international trend involves standardization of arts and culture which is a problem that can not be overlooked . Therefore, continuous researches on the indigenous culture should be continued to follow the current trends to lead the attention and the development of traditional culture. The purpose of this study is to find a transformation expression suitable for current preference by reconfiguring our traditional patterns 'Geummoon', an application of a mathematical method of unit arrangement 'tessellation'. the tradition, the ongoing researches and various attempts on indigenous cultures should be essential. This study is expected to pave the way for more researches to extend the artistic excellence for Korean traditional culture. Research method was theoretical studies on Geummoon and tessellation then investigation into their use cases and repetitive transformation of 'Geummoon' applying 'tessellation' scheme was followed. As a result, away from the traditional style, periodically well balanced efficient design of 'Geummoon' could be expressed to expand the area of representation and application. To expect the interest and development of the tradition, the ongoing researches and various attempts on indigenous cultures should be essential. This study is expected to pave the way for more researches to extend the artistic excellence for Korean traditional culture.

소셜네트워크서비스라는 뉴미디어의 보급화로 국제적인 통신 관계망이 대중화되었고, 인터넷 웹사이트를 이용할 때보다 더 신속하게, 많은 정보를, 공개적으로 확보할 수 있게 되었다. SNS를 통한 정보의 수집과 확산은 예술·디자인 시장에서의 트렌드 형성에 촉매 역할을 하고 있지만, 지나친 국제적 트렌드화는 예술문화의 획일화라는 간과할 수 없는 문제점을 내포하고 있다. 따라서 트렌드의 흐름과 더불어 고유문화에 대한 지속적인 연구가 병행되어, 전통 문화에 대한 관심과 발전도 함께 이어져 나가야 할 것이다. 본 연구는 수학적 단위 배열 방식인 ‘테셀레이션’ 기법을 활용하여 우리의 전통문양인 ‘금문’을 재구성함으로써, 현 시대의 기호에 적합한 변용 표현을 모색하는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구방법은 금문과 테셀레이션에 관하여 이론적으로 고찰함과 동시에 그 활용사례를 조사하였으며, 금문을 테셀레이션 기법에 의하여 반복적으로 변용시켰다. 그 결과, 전통의 양식에서 벗어나 시대에 공감할 수 있는 효용적인 금문의 디자인을 표현할 수 있었고, 이로써 그 표현과 활용의 영역을 확장시킬 수 있었다. 전통에 대한 관심과 발전을 기대하기 위해서는 고유문화에 대한 지속적인 연구와 다양한 각도에서의 시도가 필수적일 것이다. 본 연구를 계기로 전통을 위한 더 많은 연구가 시도되어 우리문화의 예술적 가치가 더욱 확산되기를 기대한다.
