Effects of Pilates Stability Exercise Program on Body Composition and Muscular Body Type in Obese Female College Students with Scoliosis

The purpose of this study is to examine changes in body composition and muscular body type of obese female college students with scoliosis by conducting pilates stability exercise program, and to provide basic data of exercise effects for scoliosis patients. The subjects in this experiment were 23 obese female college students with scoliosis, and they were divided into training group (n=12) and control group (n=11). The results of the experiment are as follows: First, regarding body composition, there were significant differences in weight, body mass index (BMI), and fat mass between two groups. Second, regarding changes of muscular body type, there were significant differences in trunk imbalance, trunk inclination, surface rotation, and lateral deviation between two groups. From the aboe results, it is considered that there will be positive results about changes in body composition and muscular body type for obese female college students with scoliosis through pilates stability exercise program. It is considered that education about good posture is needed before designing pilates stability exercise program.
