This study was performed targeting the golf players in order to find out the effect of self-esteem by high school golf players on the exercise commitment and athletic performance. For the extraction of sample, a systemic sampling method was used targeting the high school students who have participated in the golf players’ regulations class of Korea Junior Golf Association. Questionnaires were used for the investigation tool and the following conclusions were derived using SPSS 18.0 Ver. statistics program on the final data of 235 people after excluding the data with insufficient reply details from the subject of analysis by collecting a total of 245 questionnaires. The results were as follows. First, the positive self-esteem factor which was a sub-factor of self-esteem by high school golf players was shown as having effect on the cognitive commitment and behavioral commitment that were sub-factors of exercise commitment. Second, the positive self-esteem factor which was a sub-factor of self-esteem by high school golf players were shown as having effect on the performance success, mental maturity, and performance maturity factors that were sub-factors of athletic performance. Third, both cognitive commitment and behavioral commitment factor which was a sub-factor of exercise commitment were shown as having partial effect on the performance success, mental maturity, and performance maturity factors that were sub-factors of athletic performance.
