This study analyzed foreign direct investment firm in Korea by Eclectic Theory. And it was concurrently a case study of Nestle Korea. The results are as follows. Among factors affecting business performance Location specific advantages were important. And this was important investment ratio among the Internalization specific advantages. The number of employees and assets of important factors in Ownership specific advantages. However, this result is contradictory results were obtained depending on whether the application proxy variables used in the dependent variable of management. If the dependent variable is the operating profit, number of employees and the head office address is showed a negative affect on business performance. On the other hand, if the dependent variable is sales , number of employees and the head office address was found to affect positive business performance . These conflicting results are present in the comparative analysis between manufacturing and non-manufacturing .

본 연구는 한국에 진출한 외국인 직접투자기업의 성과를 더닝의 절충이론을 중심으로 실증분석하였고 한국네슬레의 사례분석을 병행하였다. 분석결과, 절충이론이 한국적 상황에도 부합되며 어떠한 요인들이 가장 큰 영향을 끼치고, 어느 요인이 중요한 요소인지 알 수 있었다. 즉, 경영성과에 영향을 끼치는 요인은 절충이론중 입지요인이 중요하며, 내부화요인중 투자비중이 중요하며, 독점적우위요인에서는 종업원수와 자산규모가 중요한 요인임을 말해주고 있다. 그러나 이러한 결과는 종속변수인 경영성과에 사용되는 대용변수의 선택여부에 따라 상반된 결과가 도출되었다. 먼저 종속변수가 영업이익인 경우 종업원수와 본사주소는 경영성과에 부정적인 영향을 끼치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면에 매출액을 종속변수로 분석한 결과에서는 종업원수와 본사의 위치는 기업 성과에 긍정적인 영향을 끼치고 있음을 알 수 있다. 이러한 상반된 결과는 제조업과 비제조업간 비교분석에서도 존재하였다. 제조업의 경우 종속변수인 경영성과의 대용변수의 선택 여부에 따라 투자비중 및 금액이 반대의 영향을 주고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 비제조업의 경우는 투자금액이 중요한 요인이었으며, 투자비중은 부정적인 음의 영향을 끼치고 있다. 그리고 제조업의 경우 자산규모가 중요하고, 투자 지분율, 그리고 지방에 위치할수록 경영성과인 매출액이 증가함을 알 수 있었다.
