The garden, as a long lasting object of place and culture, has a special meaning in humanistic terms. It is a medium that reflects the sensing and private experience of human beings. This study will examine the impact of the ideological background of the Joseon Dynasty on the building background of the Byeoleop style Beolseo. It will use a special reference to Mujinjeong at Hanam-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do run by Jo Sam, a literary figure in early Joseon. Jo Sam's Mujinjeong is a space that features focusing on a filial duty culture that is different from the existing Byeoljang and Byeolseo. By differentiating the concept from the existing general Byeoljang, the study attempted to analyze the features based on a filial duty centered place. Different from general Byeoljang, Jo Sam's Mujinjeong is a representative style that reinforces characteristics while it serves the family burial ground for the builder after he/she passes away. This study is significant in that it examined the above concept based on literary documents and recorded the current condition empirically for further conservation.

정원이란 오랜 시간을 지나면서 장소성 그리고 문화성을 이어오고 있는 대상으로 인문적으로 특별한 의미를 가진다. 또한 정원은 인간의 감각적이고 사적인 경험을 반영하는 매체라고 볼 수 있다. 이에 본 연구는 조선전기 문신 조삼(趙參)이 경영하였던 경상남도 함안군에 무진정(無盡亭)을 대상으로 조선시대의 사상적 배경이 별업형 별서에 미친 조영배경을 알아보고자 하였다. 조삼의 무진정은 기존의 별장이나 별서의 개념과는 다른 효문화 중심의 특징을 보이고 있는 공간이다. 기존의 일반 별장의 개념과는 차별화하여 효문화 중심의 공간이라는 특징을 중심으로 해석하고자 하였다. 조삼의 무진정은 일반 별장과는 달리 조영자가 타개한 이후에도 주변에 조영자를 위한 선영공간들을 모시면서 그 성격이 강화되는 유형의 대표이다. 위의 개념을 문헌기록을 바탕으로 살피고, 현지측량을 통한 현재 상태를 살펴 추후 보존을 위한 실증적 기록으로 남기고자 하였다는데 의의를 두고 있다.
