According to the need of effectively managing and maximizing the existing military power, the military has recently paid attention on improving performances in weapon systems. Currently, the procedure for performance improvement in weapon systems exist while there is no regulatory guidance on decision. Therefore, we developed a methodology to quantitatively find decision points for PIP in weapon systems using the 6 considerations(the technology life cycles, the service life, the repair cycles in maintenance depot, budget, the economic repair limit, the rate of operation) is based on our long experiences of the analysis and assesment. Then, we apply the methodology to the one of the systems and components in ROKN DDH.

최근 현존 군사력의 극대화와 효율적 운영을 위해 무기체계 성능개량에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 현재 무기체계 성능개량의 절차에 관한 규정만 제시되어 있어, 어떤 기준으로 성능개량 시기를 판단하느냐하는 하는 중요한 문제에 대한 연구의 필요성이 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 기존의 성능개량 판단을 위한 분석평가의 경험을 바탕으로 6가지 판단기준 요소(기술변화주기, 내구연한, 창정비주기, 예산, 경제적수리한계, 가동률)를 이용하여 성능개량 시기를 판단하는 개선방안을 제안하고 해군 함정의 무기체계를 사례로 제시하고자 한다.
