PPI(Private Participation in Infrastructure) is a credible solution for timely providing infrastructure. Korean government plans to maintain or decrease the level of public investment to infrastructure and to activate PPI. PPI is an important research subject from the perspective of construction, law and administration, and financial investment. I analyze the research trend of PPI in Korea with 152 papers published in the benefit-accredited journals classified by NRF(National Research Foundation of Korea). First, journals on construction, law, geography, and civil engineering is the main journals on PPI. Second, most active researchers are in the area of law, engineering, and public administration. Research on PPI from the financial perspective, associated with project finance, is needed for balanced economic growth through efficient capital allocation. And VFM(Value for Money) should be at the center of the discussion about PPI

민간투자사업은 사회기반시설의 적기 제공을 위한 새로운 해결책이다. 정부는 향후 사회기반시설에 대한 재정투자는 유지 또는 감축하고 민간투자사업을 활성화할 계획이다. 2013년 말 누적기준 민간투자사업 실시협약 체결 규모는 약 100조원으로, 민간투자사업은 건설, 법률 및 행정 뿐 아니라 재무금융 관점에서도 중요한 연구주제이다. 한국연구재단 등재학술지에 게재된 152편의 연구논문을 검색하여 연구동향을 분석하였다. 첫째, 건축공학, 법학, 지리학, 행정학 및 토목공학 학술지를 통한 연구가 주를 이루고 있고, 경영학 또는 경제학 학술지에 발표되는 논문의 수는 매우 적다. 둘째, 건축공학, 법학 및 행정학 전공 연구자가 활동적 연구자의 대부분을 차지하고 있다. 민간투자사업은 민간자본 투자를 전제하므로, 자본조달을 중심으로 한 재무금융적 관심 증대가 필요하다. 프로젝트 파이낸스와 연계된 민간투자사업에 대한 연구 성과가 실무영역과 공유된다면 국가경제의 균형 있는 발전에 기여할 수 있을 것이다.
