This paper described word-formation quantity, syllable template, semanticrelation and part of speech. Then, from two aspects we importantlyinvestigated the difference between “Chou” and “Xi”. In the aspect of basicmeaning, there are many differences, such as tool, quantity, shape, containerand direction. In the aspect of extended meaning, the extended pathdetermined by prototypical meaning is also different more or less. Finally, thispaper simply made a diachronic research on “Chou” and “Xi”, and draw thesemantic derivative picture.

본고에는 인지적 관점에서 “抽”와“吸”의 영상도식의 차이점을 살펴보았다. 논의를 통해“抽”와“吸”는 기본의미에 있어 [도구], [수량등급], [형태], [용기], [방향] 등을 나타내는데 차이가 있고, 파생의미에 있어 각자의 다른 원형의미로 인해 파생 경로, 그리고 이로 인해 생긴결합의 차이도 다양하다는 것을 밝혔다. 그리고 본고 마지막 부분에 통시적으로“抽”와“吸”의의미파생을 고찰하여, 원형의미를 핵심으로 한 의미파생의 영상도식을 그려보았다.
