The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediation effect of social withdrawal on the relationship between children's physical education record and friendship. The data set of by National Youth Policy Institute was reanalysed for this study. The subjects of this study were 2,209 sixth-grade elementary school students of 2012 year. The data were computed with the use of the statistics program on Windows, Amos Graphics 20.0. To analyse the data, structural equation model was employed. The findings of this study are as follows. First, partial mediation model was adequate to explain the relationship among physical education record, social withdrawal, friendship in children. Second, the causal effect of physical education record, social withdrawal, friendship in children was statistically significant. Concretely, children's physical education record had negative(-) influence on social withdrawal. Social withdrawal had negative(-) influence on friendship. Children's physical education record had positive(+) influence on friendship. Third, there is the mediation effect of social withdrawal on the relationship between children's physical education record and friendship.

이 연구는 아동의 체육성적이 교우관계에 미치는 영향에 있어서 사회적 위축의 매개 효과를 검증하는데 그 목적 이 있다. 이를 위하여 이 연구에서는 한국청소년정책연구원에서 실시하는 한국아동·청소년패널조사(KCYPS)의 ‘초 4패널’의 3차년도 자료를 활용하였다. 구체적으로 이 연구에서는 2012년도에 실시된 초등학교 6학년 자료로서 총 2,209명을 대상으로 하였다. 측정도구는 설문지로서 이 연구와 관련된 변인들을 선택하여 활용하였으며, 자료의 처리는 Amos Graphics 20.0을 사용하여 구조방정식 모형 분석을 실시하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 아동의 체육성적, 사회적 위축, 교우관계의 관계 모형은 부분매개모형이 적합하다. 둘째, 아동의 체육성적, 사회적 위축, 교우관계의 인과적 관계는 통계적으로 유의하다. 셋째, 아동의 체육성적이 교우관계에 미치는 영향에 있어 서 사회적 위축은 매개 효과를 지닌다. 결론적으로 아동의 체육성적은 사회적 위축, 교우관계와 인과적 관계를 형성하고 있으며, 사회적 위축은 아동의 체육성적과 교우관계의 관련성을 강화하는 변인이라고 할 수 있다
