The aim of this study is to examine the moderating effect in the relation between game stress and perceived athletic performance of university Taekwondo players. For this purpose, the study revised and updated a questionnaire survey developed and used for previous studies in order to fit for this study. The study selected and analyzed data of 124 university players who participated in or attended at the final selection match for the 28th Gwangju Summer Universiad Games. The questionnaire survey was verified with explorative factorial analysis and reliability analysis method using SPSS 18.0 program. Significant results were obtained through a suitable statistical procedure. As a result of analysis on the background variable, as for sex, male players had higher recognition on game immersion and perceived athletic performance. As for the difference by the exercise career, those with longer exercise career had higher recognition on weight control factor of stress, game immersion and perceived athletic performance. With game immersion as control variable, when the relation between game stress and perceived athletic performance was analyzed, explanation power of 1-3 steps increased 30.2%, 61.1% and 64.8% respectively. As it was significant with p < .05 level, the moderating effect was verified. Judgment of the judge among the interaction of 3- step model was found to be an influential variable (p < .05).
