The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of the material hardship as a risk factor and social support as a protective factor on the disabled women’s safety from crime and suggest the social and political alternatives to ensure the disabled women’s safety. Main findings that resulted from a survey of 374 disabled women in nationwide showed that the material hardship as a risk factor affected the disabled women’s safety. The disabled women who is less-educated, living in local city, and more experiencing material hardship were not safe from crime. The social support as a protective factor affected the disabled women’s safety also. The disabled women who is less-educated, having mild disability, living in local city, and less having social support were not safe from crime. Based on the findings, we suggested social and political implications to ensure the disabled women’s safety.

본 연구는 장애여성들이 인식하는 ‘범죄로부터 안전’ 실태 분석을 통해, 위험요인으로서의 물질적 곤궁과 보호요인으로서의 사회적 지지가 ‘범죄로부터 안전’에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 통해 장애여성의 실제적인 안전을 담보하기 위한 사회정책적인 대안을 제시하고자 한다. 이를 위해 전국에 거주하는 장애여성 총 374명의 설문조사 결과를 최종 분석에 사용하였다. 연구결과 위험요인으로서 물질적 곤궁은 '범죄로부터 안전'에 유의미한 영향력을 나타냈으며, 장애여성의 교육 기간이 짧고, 중소도시와 농산어촌에 살고 있으며, 물질적 곤궁을 많이 경험할수록 범죄로부터 안전하 지 않았다. 보호요인으로서 사회적 지지 또한 '범죄로부터 안전'에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 장애여성 의 교육기간이 짧고, 정애정도가 경증이며, 중소도시와 농산어촌에 살수록, 사회적 지지가 적을수록 범 죄로부터 안전하지 않았다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 정책적이고 실천적인 제언을 제시하였다.
