The purpose of this research is to examine the impact of cooperative art learning program on kindergarten children's emotional intelligence and ability to express in language, based on art appreciation activities. The hypotheses were formulated, as follows: 1. Children’s emotional intelligence can be improved by participating in cooperative art program through art appreciation activities. 2. Children’s language expressive power can be improved by participating in cooperative art program through art appreciation activities. The subjects in this research were 26 young children aged 5 years, attending a kindergarten at Euiwang-si, Gyunggi-do, Korea: 13 children were assigned to an experimental group and 13 to a control group. Tests before experiments for emotional intelligence and language expressive power were done to check about within-group homogeneity. Lee Byeong-Rae’s checklist(1997) developed on Mayer and Salovery’s(1997) emotional intelligence model was used to verify Hypothesis 1. Mean and standard deviation were calculated for each post test group’s emotional intelligence. MANOVA was performed to analyze the research data. Visual Que Writing Sample modified and updated in 4 areas by Jeong Nam-Mi(1996) was employed to verify Hypothesis 2. Mean and standard deviation between experimental group and control group were calculated through the tests. ANOVA and SPSS 20.0 were used to analyze the research data. The findings of this research are concluded, as follows: First, cooperative art activity program based on art appreciation is effective in improving young children’s emotional intelligence, because they share the materials, understand, cooperate, communicate positively, while they discuss and work together to complete the works. Second, cooperative art activity program based on art appreciation is effective in improving children’s language expressive power, because they experience new words, discuss, listen and speak their own thoughts, feelings and experiences. This research shows that cooperative art learning program influenced positively to improve young children’s emotional intelligence and ability to express in language. It is suggested hereby that variety of art appreciation activities should be applied to children’s education sites to improve children’s emotional intelligence and language expressive power.

본 연구는 유아들의 마술감상에 기초한 미술협동활동 프로그램이 유아의 정서지능과 언어표현력에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 구체적인 연구가설은 다음과 같다. 1. 미술감상에 기초한 협동미술활동 프로그램 에 참여함으로써 유아들의 정서지능은 향상 될 것이다. 2. 미술감상에 기초한 협동미술활동 프로그램에 참여함으 로써 유아들의 언어표현력은 향상될 것이다. 본연구의 대상은 경기도 의왕시에 있는 사립유치원 반 5세유아들 26명을 선정하여 13명은 실험집단, 13명은 비교집단으로 배치하고 실험을 하기전에 정서지능과 언어표현력을 검 사하여 동질성을 확보하였다. 가설 1의 검증을 위하여 Mayer와 Salovey(1997)가 제시한 정서지능 모형을 근거로 이 병래(1997)가 제작한 유아의 정서지능 체크리스트를 사용하였다. 검증을 위하여 정서지능 사후검사에 대하여 집 단별로 평균과 표준편차를 구하고 다변량 분산분석(MANOVA)을 실시하였다. 가설2의 검증을 위하여 Visual Que Writing Sample로 정남미(1996)가 4개 영역으로 수정, 보완한 것을 사용하였다. 이런 검사를 통하여서 실험집단과 비교집단간의 평균점수와 표준편차를 산출하였고 분산분석(ANOVA)을 실시하였고 자료처리는 SPSS 20.0을 사용 하여 분석하였다. 본연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 미술 감상에 기초한 협동미술 학습은 유아의 정서지능을 향상시키는데 효과가 있다. 즉, 토의를 통한 협동미술프로그램을 하는 동안 유아들은 서로 나누어 사용하고, 이 해하고, 서로 협동하며 공동으로 작품을 완성하는 과정에서 긍정적인 교류를 통하여 유아의 정서지능이 향상되 었다고 할 수 있다. 둘째, 미술 감상에 기초한 협동미술 학습은 유아의 언어표현력을 향상시키는데 효과가 있다. 이는 명화감상을 통하여 새로운 단어를 경험하고 서로의 생각과 느낌, 경험을 통하여 언어적 교류를 하며 토론 을 통하여 교류하는 동안 언어표현력이 향상되었다고 할 수 있다. 이상의 연구결과 미술감상활동에 기초한 협동 미술 학습은 유아의 정서지능과 언어표현력에 긍적적인 영향을 미친 것으로 밝혀졌으며 이로써 유아의 정서지능 및 언어표현력의 변화를 위해 다양한 미술 감상활동을 유아교육현장에 적용해 볼 필요가 있음을 시사하고 있다.
