The rise of adult education has necessitated re-considerations about education in today’s dynamic learning landscape. The term“ andragogy” emerged as a response to, and also to extend the possibilities that are brought about by these developments. This paper examines the considerations that go into the developmental and evolutionary processes of Critical Thinking and Academic Writing as two undergraduate subjects (as part of a Core Curriculum) in an adult-dominant university. Some attention will be paid to the pedagogical and andragogical concerns in the design of these subjects, given the student demographics involved.

최근 다변화하는 학습환경 속에서 성인 학생을 대상으로 하는 교육에 새 로운 대안이 필요하다는 인식이 확산되고 있으며, 이에 따라‘ 성인교육학 (andragogy)’이라는 개념이 등장하여 교육학의 한 분과로 자리를 잡아가고 있 다. 본 연구는 성인 학생을 대상으로 하는 대학 교양교육 중‘ 비판적 사고’와 ‘학술적 글쓰기’라는 두 교과의 발전 방향과 개선 방향에 대해 검토한다. 인 구통계학적 접근방법을 활용하여, 비판적 사고 및 학술적 글쓰기 수업의 설계 와 관련한 성인 교육학적 교수법에 초점을 맞추어 논의를 진행한다.
