The main purpose of this paper is to provide specific cases that analyze and assess philosophical reasoning through methods of critical thinking. Numerous workbooks have been published within the decade since the notion of "critical thinking" was introduced in Korea. However, most are either supplementary textbooks for essay composition targeting students in high school or college, or books designed to serve courses in liberal education, thereby lacking in-depth research into specifically how advanced critical thinking can be utilized in various university subjects. This paper examines and evaluates a range of methods involved in critical thinking as they are applied to the process of philosophical reasoning. By doing so, this paper brings light to how critical thinking is to be assessed. This will assist our understanding of what critical thinking is, how it is to be applied to various fields of study, what benefits we may seek, and what limitations we may face.

이 논문은 비판적 사고 방법론을 적용하여 철학적 논증을 분석하고 평가 한 구체적인 사례를 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 우리 사회에‘ 비판적 사고’라는 개념이 도입된 지 어느덧 십수년이 지났고, 그 동안 수많은 소 개서와 연습서들이 출판되었다. 그러나 그 대부분은 중고등학생들, 또는 대학 초급생들을 위한 논술지도서이거나 교양교육 교재의 형태 또는 수준에 머물러 있으며, 비판적 사 고를 어떻게 적용하여 어떤 성과를 낼 수 있는 지에 대한 구체적인 방법을 제시하거나, 이를 대학 전공 영역에 적용시키 는 심화된 수준의 사례를 제공하는 연구는 매우 미흡하다는 것이 필자의 생각이다. 그리하여 필자는 주로 비판적 사고를 적용하는 방법들에 초점 을 맞추어, 이것들을 철학에서 실제로 생산된 논증들에 적용하여 분석하 고 평가해보고자 한다. 이렇게 볼 때 이 논문의 주된 의의는 이러한 분석 과 평가의 과정과 결과들을 구체적으로 보여주는 데서 찾을 수 있다. 그리 고 이런 작업을 통해 우리는‘ 비판적 사고’라는 것이 무엇이며, 이것을 어 떻게 다양한 학문적 탐구 영역에 적용하는지, 그리고 이런 방법이 얼마나 가치가 있는지에 대해 이해할 수 있으며, 나아가서 이런 방식의 탐구가 지 닌 문제점과 한계도 알게 될 것이다.
