The purpose of this study is to analyze the research trends of educational leadership in US. The researchers chose the most typical publication in the educational administration field named EAQ, and analyzed the 64 of 118 articles during 5 years(2009-2013) by leadership subject, leadership style, research subject and research method. Findings of this study an be summarized in three points: 1) In the leadership subject, the principal was the most, the next one was teacher, and superintendent, educational leaders, school leaders and local residents were also studied. 2) Leadership styles were very diverse. The instructional leadership was the most one, and transformational leadership, social justice leadership, distributed leadership was also researched. 3) In terms of research subjects, “the effectiveness of leadership” accounted for the most one, “development of leadership program” was next one. 4) In the research method, quantitative and qualitative were used in similar proportion. Through the study, the educational leadership research trends in US can be confirmed, and it can provide implications for educational leadership research.

이 연구는 미국 교육리더십의 최근 연구경향을 파악하기 위하여 미국 교육행정 분야의 대 표적인 연구물인 EAQ에 최근 5년간(2009-2013년) 게재된 118편의 논문 중 교육리더십에 관한 논문 64편을 선별하여 리더십 실행주체, 유형, 연구주제, 연구방법의 준거로 분석하였다. 주요 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 리더십의 실행주체는 학교장이 전체의 절반으로 가장 많았고, 교사는 두 번째로 많았으며, 교육감, 교육리더, 학교리더, 지역주민 등 다양한 주체가 연구되 었다. 둘째, 리더십 유형은 매우 다양하게 나타났는데, 수업 리더십이 가장 많았고, 변혁적 리 더십이 그 다음이었으며, 사회정의 리더십과 분산적 리더십도 많이 연구되었다. 셋째, 리더십 의 연구주제는 리더십의 효과 분석이 가장 많았고, 리더십 발달을 위한 프로그램 개발이 뒤 를 이었다. 넷째, 연구방법에서는 양적연구과 질적연구가 거의 비슷한 비중으로 사용되었다. 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로, 미국 교육리더십의 최근 연구경향을 확인하고 교육리더십 연구 에 대한 시사점을 제시하였다.
