Julio Cortázar, who is considered a master of fantastic literature, discussed about the theme of metaphysical pursuit in his work “The Pursuer” (El perseguidor), which was first published in the short story collection The Secret Weapons (Las armas secretas) in 1959. The theme is considered to be a speculative argument of “the other reality”, which the argentine writer has presented skillfully in his fantastic literature. Cortazar’s “other reality” is neither a transcendental world nor an ideal world, yet it is located in this world, now and here. The pursuit of the other reality can be seen as an endeavor to express what is ineffable in the era of losing any sense of transcendental realities.
