This study amis to figure out the current status and problems of English learning environment according to the need of constructing English learning circumstances and proper learning space. Also it derives typical learning scenes by analyzing the English curriculum of high school and explores how to build appropriate English education environment to it. Therefore this study focuses on analyzing school classrooms and space program related English education and proposing architectural planning standards for future English education environment by research and analysis of about 3,000 middle and high schools in the whole country. Through this study tries to find architectural planning method and guideline for spatial configuration and management plan of the English-only classroom in order to construct English educational environment suitable for English teaching content and methods of middle and high schools.

본 연구는 전국 중, 고등학교를 대상으로 영어 교육 활성화를 위한 영어 교육환경 조성 및 적절한 학습 공간 구축의 필요성에 따라 영어 교육환경에 대한 전국적인 현황과 문제점을 파악하고, 중, 고등학교의 영어교육과정을 분석하여 대표적인 학습장면을 도출하여 이에 적합한 영어교육환경 구축방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 전국 중학교 2581개교, 고등학교 1986개교의 영어교육과 관련한 실 현황과 각 실의 면적 현황을 분석하였으며, 이와 함께 중, 고등학교의 영어교육과정을 분석하여 향후 영어 교육환경을 조성할 때 요구되는 건축계획적 지침을 제시하였다. 본 연구를 통해 중, 고등학교의 영어교육 내용 및 방법에 적합한 영어 교육 환경을 조성하기 위해서 영어 전용 교실의 공간구성 및 운영 방안에 대한 건축 계획적 방안 모색과 그 지침을 구하고자 한다.
