This essays takes a critical look at the prospects of transcendental arguments in contemporary philosophy. First, it is argued that modern philosophy needs to return to transcendental arguments. Secondly, the recent epistemological discourse on transcendental arguments in the Anglo-American and German context is sketched and analyzed: reflexive transcendental arguments must be distinguished from non-reflexive types. Finally, the paper suggests an extension of the argument from self-contradiction as a basis for a future transcendental semantics.

이 논문은 현대철학을 정당화하기 위한 초월론적 논증들의 가능성들을 특정한 계획 하에서 탐구하고 있다. 우선 철학의 대체적인 재초월론화 현상이 다뤄지고, 둘째는 초월론적 논증을 둘러싼 영-미의논쟁을, 셋째는 독일철학에서의 논쟁을 간단히 살펴보고 평가하고 있다. 여기서 주안점은 반성적인 초월론적 논증들은 비반성적인 초월론적 논증들과 구별되어야 한다는 것, 그리고 자기모순적 논증들을 개별적으로 투입하는 대신 초월론적 의미론으로까지 논의가 확대되어야 하는 것 아닌가 하는 점이다.
