The dawn of the twenty-first century has borne witness to modern technology exerting a tremendous influence on new media and social interactions. The staggering quantity and variety of content has impacted children’s perceptions and critical interpretations of the world around them. This paper will discuss the changing contexts of media exposure and web interactions today as well as the multitude of opportunities available for integrating modern technology into culturally diverse art education. Various methods for integrating technology into classrooms will be discussed along with the relevance of technology in the changing environments faced by children today. Further discussion centers on defining cultural diversity and emphasizing the importance of cultural diversity in art education, as it helps students to cope with the ever increasing pace of our globalized world. This paper concludes by recommending specific culturally diverse classroom art activities that also introduce modern technology into the curricula.
