The purpose of the present study is to analyze the effect of a gifted informatics education on the career path selection of learners who have completed it, and to present its implications. For this, learners were surveyed who had completed a gifted informatics education at gifted education institutions. The survey questions concerned: the career paths selected by learners; the effect of gifted informatics education on career path selection; the effect of factors internal to learners (interest in gifted informatics education, difficulty of the contents of the education, and self-directed learning attitude) on career path selection; and the effect of factors external to learners (gifted informatics education management methods, people around learners, and contents of the education) on career path selection. It was found that internal factors did not affect learners’ career path selection. In the case of external factors, while intensive education during vacations and education during semesters had a considerable effect in terms of education management methods, distance education and participation in competitions did not have much effect on career path selection. The following had the greatest effect on learners’ career path selection: for people around the learners, teachers had the largest impact; and, for the contents of the education, programming language and algorithms for learners who selected fields in informatics and programming language, and application software for those who selected other fields, had the greatest effects, respectively. Such results imply several things about gifted informatics education. Based on this results, in terms of students' career choices, self-realization and cultivating human resources for national competitiveness it was suggested how informatics gifted education should be carried out. Also, it is necessary to track which career paths learners who have completed gifted informatics education actually select in adulthood and whether they are linked to the career paths of their wishes at present, thus analyzing the effect of gifted informatics education on learners’ career paths from a more long-term perspective.

본 연구의 목적은 정보영재교육이 정보영재교육을 수료한 학습자들의 진로 선택에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 그 시사점을 제시하는 데 있다. 이를 위하여 영재교육기관에서 정보영재교육 을 이수한 학습자들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 설문 문항은 학습자들이 선택한 진로, 학습자 내적 요인(정보영재교육에 대한 흥미, 교육 내용에 대한 난이도, 자기주도적인 학습 태 도)과 학습자 외적 요인(정보영재교육의 교육 운영 방법, 주변 인물, 교육 내용)이 진로 선택에 미친 영향을 묻는 문항으로 구성되어 있다. 학습자 내적 요인은 진로 선택에 영향을 미치지 않 은 것으로 나타났다. 학습자 외적 요인의 경우, 교육 운영 방법에서는 방학 중 집중 교육과 학 기 중 교육이 많은 영향을 미친 반면 원격 교육이나 대회 출전의 경우는 진로 선택에 영향을 크게 주지 못했다. 주변 인물로는 교수자가, 교육 내용의 경우 정보 분야의 진로를 선택한 학 습자들에게는 프로그래밍 언어와 알고리즘, 다른 분야의 진로를 선택한 학습자들에게는 프로그 래밍 언어와 응용소프트웨어가 진로 선택에 가장 많은 영향을 준 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결 과를 바탕으로 학습자들의 진로 선택과 자아실현, 국가 경쟁력 확보를 위한 인력 양성 측면에 있어 정보영재교육이 어떤 방향으로 진행되어야 하는지를 제시하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대 로 정보영재교육을 이수한 학습자들이 실제 성인이 되었을 때 선택한 진로는 무엇인지, 현재 희망하는 진로와 연계가 되었는지를 파악함으로써 보다 장기적인 관점에서 정보영재교육이 학 습자의 진로에 미치는 영향을 분석할 필요가 있다.
