This paper reports to the academy the achievement and further works of the project that collects and rearranges the entire copies of Seong-Ho (星湖)'s works in order to establish the volume of his original works (hereafter, The Project). The Project is aimed to collect and rearrange the entire copies of Seong-Ho's work; and to open them to the general public. The Project is an ongoing work; and this paper is an interim report to it. The followings summarise what are achieved in the Project through the works that have been undertaken so far. Firstly, the entire types of Seong-Ho's works were collected and rearranged into different categories by comparing them in their differences and similarities. Secondly, what stands as the best achievement through this work is the birth of the collection of the original copy of master Seong-Ho's works. Once all the procedures are finalized, the complete volume of Seong-Ho's original version of works is to be published. It is expected that the published volume contributes to deepening further studies. Thirdly, what additionally is achieved through the works of the Project is the changing perceptions of the relevant academy group to the Project. The Project being carried out, several shortcomings are noticed as follows. Firstly, while the team of the Project has strived in my different measures to collect and survey the possible forms of Seong-Ho's work, it is difficult to say that the entire forms were completely collected. We consider that there would be other may copies that are owned by individuals. Secondly, all the different versions of copies of Seong-Ho's work being collected, they are not far from being clear in their types of documents. This is because the hand writing version of Seong- Ho's works has not been entirely found; and henceforth unable to judge the collected documents whether or not it is original. Thirdly, it is noticed that setting up a compete form of database is difficult. In particular, when the owners of documents decline to offer them to the Project team, there is no way to collect them. For the copies that can be used for a public purpose, social perceptions of individual owners of such documents should be changed. The work of establishing the complete collection of original copies in many different areas are expected to bring the energy to the relevant academic community.

본고는 성호전서 정본화 사업의 성과와 과제를 학계에 보고하는 글이다. 성호전서 정본화 사업은 성호 의 모든 저작을 재정리하여 학계와 대중에게 소개하는 작업이다. 본 사업은 현재 진행 중인 작업이며, 이 글은 그 중간보고서의 성격을 갖는다. 그간의 성과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 모든 판본수집 후 표점ㆍ교감작업을 통해 판본계열을 정리했다는 점이다. 둘째, 모든 과정을 통 한 성호선생문집 정본이 만들어지고 있다는 점 역시 큰 성과이다. 모든 과정이 종료된 후 성호전서정본 이 출간될 것이고, 이를 통해 심도있는 연구 성과가 이어질 것으로 생각된다. 셋째, 부차적인 성과로 정 본화 사업에 대한 학계의 인식 변화이다. 정본화 사업을 진행하면서 아쉬운 점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성호전서정본화 사업팀에서 여러 방면으로 판본조사를 했지만, 모든 것을 다 조사했다고 하기에는 아쉬운 점이 있다. 아직도 개인 소장의 판본이 있을 것으로 판단되기 때문이다. 둘째, 확인할 수 있는 판본을 모두 수집했어도 판본계열이 모두 분명 한 것은 아니다. 이는 성호가 직접 쓴 수고본이 모두 발견된 것이 아니기 때문이다. 셋째, 사업과정에서 데이터베이스과정에서의 난점도 많다. 특히 어려운 점은 책 소유자가 판본제공을 거부할 경우는 별 방 법이 없다는 점이다. 공적인 부분에서 이용되는 자료인 경우 사회적 인식변화가 필요한 부분이다. 앞으로 다양한 분야에서 정본화가 이루어진다면 학계의 또 다른 원동력을 확인할 수 있을 것으로 기대 된다.
