As a forerunner of the print fashion trend, a fashion designer Mary Katrantzou has a great deal of influence on the fashion industry through collection costumes like artworks and various kinds of collaborations. This study aims at examining Mary Katrantzou's work activities and identifying work characteristics. As for research methods, it conducted literature research on a life and work activities of Mary Katrantzou and a case study on formative characteristics of her works. In terms of main work activities, Mary Katrantzou made her debut in the London fashion industry as a print dress using a digital textile printing technique in 2008. Since then in every season, she has been presenting evolutionary collections of print expressing a theme well, innovative textile and an elaborate silhouette, winning much recognition on creativity. Besides, she satisfies a range of consumers through collaborations with a lot of brands. In Mary Katrantzou collections, main formative elements contain the print, textile and form. Mary Katrantzou brings trompe-l'œil print to perfection inspired by fashion, daily articles, craft works, photos and sculptures. Furthermore, she is developing the innovative textile through mixing patterned fabric, general fabric and surface decoration. Mary Katrantzou collections show various silhouettes including straight-typed, flowing A-typed and O-typed, X-typed and asymmetrical silhouettes according to a theme and textile. As a result of analyzing Mary Katrantzou's works, research findings show realistic expressions of surrealistic vision, maximalism of moderate formative beauty and pursuit of demi couture by handicraft decoration as main characteristics. Mary Katrantzou integrates her design philosophy on dressing women in clothes that they can't wear with dress of trompe-l'œil print, innovative textile, handicraft decoration and exquisite cutting, expanding a boundary of creativity.
