In this study, it is showed that the phenomenon of depoliticizationimposed on people in Yusin Era thru Lee Byung Joo's popnovels. A politicsis fundamental mechanism of human society and also it's desires. But it wasnot permitted to disclose the political nature in male dominated Yusinera. Thereabout the imposed depoliticizationinduced the popnovelsto bepopularized. Especially, Lee's narratives characterized with a political tendencyshowed the differences from the female configurations of the other popnovels. It was expressed to objectify female as the savoring and enjoying, but not tosubordinate female to male. It reflected extremely androcentric perspectiveinversely. As considering the textual unconsciousness in Lee's popnovels,itis showed the deflected phenomenon of male political directivity towardfemale or private territory in the politically blockaded society. In Lee'snovels, the female's damaged sexual value to the male characters isconfigurated to the crack of male symbolic order and the medium ofpassion, conviction and ostentation of their territory claimed out of politicalrelationship in malecentricsociety. This configurating tendency is utilizedto articulate the discouraged political desires of mass society and to projectthose political libido onto female who was the third party among male dominated society

본고는 이병주의 대중소설을 통해 유신시대에 대중에게 강요되었던 탈정치화의 현상을 고찰하였다. 정치는 인간 사회의 기본적인 메커니즘이면서 인간의 욕망이기도 하다. 그러나 유신으로 상징되는 당대 사회에서 정치성을 드러내는 것은 용납되지 않았다. 당시 사회에 강요된 탈정치화는대중문학의 통속화를 불러왔는데, 정치적 지향이 강했던 이병주의 대중서사에는 탈정치화와 관련하여 당시의 대중소설의 여성형상화와 차별되는특성이 나타난다. 향유와 오락의 대상으로서의 여성의 위치를 보여주면서도 일반적으로 대중소설에서 발견되는 여성인물의 남성에 대한 종속이 드러나지 않는다는 것인데, 이것은 역으로 극도의 남성중심적 시각을 반영하는 것이라고 할 수 있다. 또한 남성의 사적 영역에 속한 여성인물이 남성에게 있어 훼손된 가치로 등장하거나 사적 영역 밖의 여성이 남성의 상징질서 안으로 입사할 때에 남성의 정치성을 드러내는 매개로서 활용되고있었다. 이병주의 대중소설이 보여주고 있는 텍스트의 무의식을 고찰했을때, 이러한 특성들은 정치성이 봉쇄된 사회에서 남성의 정치적 지향성이여성과 사적영역 안으로 굴절되는 현상을 반영하고 있다고 볼 수 있다. 이병주의 소설에서 남성인물에게 여성의 훼손된 성적 가치는 자신이 구성한남성 상징계의 균열을 의미하는 것으로 형상화된다. 또 남성사회의 정치관계에서 표방되는 열정과 신념, 그리고 자신의 영역에 대한 과시를 매개하는 역할로 활용된다. 이러한 경향은 대중사회가 지향하는 정치적 욕망은 좌절되었으나, 그 정치적 리비도는 남성중심사회의 타자인 여성을 대상으로 하여 투사되면서 대중소설 속으로 수렴되고 있는 현상을 반영한다고 볼 수 있었다.
