The purposes of this study were to apply individual aerobic exercise program to improve health of elderly living in nursing home and to evaluate the effect of this program on physical health, self-esteem and life satisfaction of the elderly. Participants were recruited from two senior nursing homes. The sample consisted of intervention group(n=19) and control group(n=20). During the 8-weeks period, participants who were in experimental group participated aerobic exercise program three times a week for one hour per session. The data were collected at two points: prior to intervention, 8 weeks after intervention. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, x2-test, Mann-Whitney U, and t-test. After intervention, physical health, self-esteem and life satisfaction in experimental group were significantly increased than those of control group. Findings indicated that individual aerobic exercise program had positive effects on physical health, self-esteem and life satisfaction of elderly who reside in nursing home. This individual aerobic exercise program is both effective and reliable for elderly who reside in nursing home.
