This study aims to investigate empirically interrelationship among middle and high school athletic athletes' self-esteem, exercise adherence and perceived performance. To achieve the purpose, the 212 subjects were sampled from middle and high school athletes in Korea Athletic Association. Self-esteem scale which was adapted by Kim(1984) from Rosenberg’s ‘Self-Esteem Questionnaire’, the questionnaires which developed by Corbin and Lindsey(1994), exercise adherence scale which was adapted by Oh, Song, Kim, Huh and Jo(2000) and perceived performance scale which developed by Ahn(2003) were used as the research tools. To process data, AMOS 20.0 and SPSS PC+ 20.0 Version statistical program for WINDOWS were used and descriptive statistic, t-test, one-way ANOVA, factor analysis, LSD post-test, correlation and covariance structure analysis were conducted. Through such processes and method of the study as above, the results of this study are as follow. First, there are differences among the athletes' self-esteem, exercise adherence, and perceived performance according to gender, team, sport and the career of winning a prize. Second, the relationships among middle and high school athletic athletes' self-esteem, exercise adherence and perceived performance were the causal relation. Third, middle and high school athletic athletes’ self-esteem negatively influences exercise adherence and exercise adherence positively influences perceived performance.
