L-SAM (Long-Range Surface-to-Air Missile) system acquisition has become very urgent in Korea to protect the nation from North Korea`s ballistic missile threat. The L-SAM development project is a huge defense development project that requires at least 1 billion US$ and is expected to significantly affect the domestic economy. Thus, the economic effect of L-SAM is becoming an important issue in Korea. However, there are few researches on and analyses of the industrial effect of L-SAM development. Thus, this study analyzed the industrial effect of L-SAM development on production, added value, and induced employment using the input-output analysis method, and showed that localized production of L-SAM would increase production and employment. This study also suggested that localized production and a capital-intensive original industry production policy for L-SAM would be needed to build a more competitive L-SAM industry.

본 논문에서는 북한의 장거리탄도탄 미사일 위협으로부터 국내 안보 환경 구축이 필요한 시점에서 투입산출분석 방법을 적용하여 장거리지대공 미사일(L-SAM) 체계 개발로 파생되는 경제적 유발효과 및 산업적 영향력을 생산측면, 부가가치측면, 그리고 고용의 경제적 측면에서 비교 분석하였으며, 경제적 유발효과 분석 결과로 장거리지대공 미사일(L-SAM) 체계 개발은 국내 안보 환경 구축 뿐 아니라 국방산업의 자립도 향상 및 경제적 파급 효과를 극대화할 수 있도록 현재의 노동집약적인 특징을 나타내고 있는 L-SAM 산업을 자본집약적인 산업으로 성장시키고, 국내 기술개발 투자 확대를 통한 부품 국산화율을 향상시키는 방향으로 개발 정책을 추진할 필요가 있음을 제시하였다.
