I’ve examined about the figure of Mrs.Yun in various documents of her descendants who recorded about her after her death. ｢A funeral oration of grandmother[祭祖母文]｣ written by Kim Jin-gue has not introduced yet, but it is a crucial material to understand Mrs.Yun. Firstly, it is the most oldest material which remained as an written document among the materials written after her death. Secondly, it is considerably valuable because it is written by someone who knew Mrs.Yun well and respected her a lot. In this writing Kim Jin-gue describes Mrs.Yun’s lifelong figure as kinds: personality, intelligence, fidelity, virtue. It was not that there weren’t existing any records about her, yet these four kinds explain her most above all. Therefore, this thesis deals with Mrs.Yun’s figure according to these four. Mrs.Yun was good-natured and kindhearted. Due to the influence from Princess Junhae and elders in family, she sympathized not only with the poor, but with animals and plants so that we could say that she was attentive and understanding. Mrs.Yun was a smart girl who memorize things well that her parents felt sorry that she was a girl. And she showed discernment based on her knowledge that she could judge situations well and results were always end in appropriate ways. Her husband passed away soon after their marriage. She thought that raising remaining children well is her duty toward dead husband. She dedicated herself to educate children and never ate nice food and never went to parties. She was born as a precious daughter of the prominent noble family, but following her ancestors she lived frugal and industrious life. When her children became officers she didn’t need to work by herself, but she still assumed that needle work is her duty to do and taught her children and daughters-in-law thrift.

이 글은 ｢구운몽｣의 저자 김만중의 모친인 윤부인의 면모를 후손들의 여러 가지 기록에 나타난 것을 대상으로 살펴보고자 한 것이다. 윤부인에 대한 후손의 자료로는 아들 김만중이 지은 ｢先妣貞敬夫人行狀｣(『西浦集』卷10), ｢貞敬夫人 海平尹氏 行狀｣(宋百憲, 螢雪出版社, 1977. pp. 18-19.)이 있으며, 손자인 金鎭圭가 지은 ｢祖妣行狀拾遺錄｣｣(『竹泉集』卷 35), ｢叔父崇政大夫行禮曹判書兼判義禁府事 知經筵事弘文館大提學藝文館 大提學 知春秋館成均館事 五衛都捴府都捴管 西浦先生府君行狀｣｣(『竹泉集』 卷35), ｢太夫人 行狀 拾遺錄｣(宋百憲, 螢雪出版社, 1977, pp. 36-37.), 그리고 ｢祭祖母文｣｣(『竹泉集』 卷12)이 있으며, 撰者未詳이지만 후손 누군가에 의해 쓰여진 것으로 보이는｣『西浦年譜』(金炳國, 서울大學校出版部, 1992.) 등이 있다. 이들 자료에는 누구보다도 윤부인을 잘 아는 후손들에 의해 기록된 것이므로 윤부인의 모습이 잘 드러나 있을 것으로 보이며, 특히 김만중과 윤부인을 좋아하 고 사모하던 김진규가 윤부인 사후에 바로 지은 ｢제조모문｣에는 윤부인의 모습이 잘 드러나 있다. ｢제조모문｣에는 윤부인의 평생의 모습을 네 가지로 이야기하였는데, 윤부인의 人性, 識見, 節操, 品德이었다. 이 글은 ｢제조모문｣에 드러난 윤부인의 위와 같 은 네 가지 모습을 다른 여러 자료를 통하여 실상을 밝힌 것이다. 첫째, 윤부인은 천성이 어질고 착하였을 뿐만 아니라, 정혜옹주를 비롯한 집안 어른들의 훌륭한 가르침을 받아 약하고 힘없는 사람은 물론 가금이나 화목에 이르기까지 불쌍하게 여기는 마 음이 컸으며, 다른 사람을 배려하고 이해하는 마음이 컸다. 둘째, 윤부인은 어려서부터 총명하고 기억력이 뛰어나서 집안 어른들이 여자로 태어난 것을 매우 애석하게 여길 정도였으며, 총혜함을 바탕으로 뛰어난 식견을 발휘하였다. 그래서 일을 당하여 판단이 옳고 합리적인 데로 귀결되었다. 셋째, 윤부인은 결혼 초에 남편이 입절을 하게 되자 남은 자식들을 훌륭하게 키 우는 것이 죽은 남편에 대한 도리라고 생각하여, 자식과 그 자손들 교육에 힘을 쏟았으며, 평생 맛있는 음식을 먹지 않고, 즐거운 음악을 듣지 않고, 잔치에 나아 가지 않았다. 넷째, 대대로 높은 벼슬이 끊이지 않는 집안의 귀한 딸로 태어났지만 어른들의 가르침으로 평생 검소하고 부지런하게 살았다. 뒤에 자손들이 벼슬을 하게 되어 스스로 일을 하지 않아도 되었지만, 바느질은 여자의 당연한 직임이라 하여 바느 질을 하였고, 자손 및 며느리에게 검약할 것을 가르쳤다.
