Despite many critics from feminist perspectives, Korean christian wedding services have more patriarchal forms and contents than other modern secular wedding services in Korea. It seems the influence from the somewhat patriarchal bible verses and the deep root of confucianism centered on parents and males. In addition, for most ordained pastors lead the services based on the official worship books of the denominations and the books have a tendency of uncritical inclusion of the patriarchal traditions or cultures of their societies, it seems the worship leaders cannot avoid reflecting the patriarchal ideas or rituals. Although there are some rites trying to include the modern christian wedding theologies based on the equal relationship between woman and man, it is not easy to find ones satisfying the needs and principles of modern feminism in the weddings. Through this study on the wedding services of Korean churches, especially the protestant churches based on the denominational official worship books, I want to challenge the patriarchal and sex discriminative elements in the rites and rituals and suggest some alternative ways reflecting God's liberating gospel in the spirit of creation and in the feminist's perspectives. For the critical suggestions, the biblical texts and the historical understandings related to wedding are shortly examined, and the ritual theories centered on Victor Turner are also mentioned as a kind of mechanism of sound passage rite for a new wedding couple.

수많은 여성주의적 관점에서의 비판에도 불구하고, 한국의 기독교 결혼예식은 세속의 결혼식보다 더 가부장 적 형식과 내용을 많이 담고 있다. 이것은 여자와 남자의 결혼에 대한 성경의 본문들이 주는 문자적 영향을 피 하기 어려운데다 부모중심, 남성중심의 한국의 유교문화의 뿌리가 깊이 반영되어 있기 때문이다. 게다가 대부 분의 목회자들이 교단의 예식서에 근거해서 결혼예식을 집례하는데, 대부분의 교단 예식서들이 기독교와 한 국문화의 가부장적 요소들을 무비판적으로 수용한 것들이기에 가부장적이고 근대적인 결혼예식을 피해가기 가 어렵다. 물론 현대 결혼신학이 반영된 결혼식 순서나 내용들을 포함하는 몇 몇 모델들도 있지만, 양성평등 적이고 신부와 신랑의 주체적이고 책임적인 접근을 만족시킬만한 예식을 찾기가 쉽지 않다. 본 연구는 한국의 개신교 주류 교단들의 결혼예식서들의 분석을 중심으로 한국교회 결혼식 속에 나타나는 성 차별적 요소들과 가부장적 요소들을 찾아내고, 여성주의적 관점에서 도전하고 하나님의 창조와 해방적 복음 에 기초한 새로운 대안들을 제시하고자 하였다. 또한 비판적 제안을 위해 기독교의 결혼이나 가정과 관련된 성서 본문들과 역사적 이해들을 간단히 살펴보았으며, 빅터 터너의 통과의례 이론을 중심으로 새로운 가정을 향해 건강하게 출발할 수 있도록 제안하였다.
