Self-esteem and mental health care of students in dental hygiene department who will be responsible for the future of oral health related work is an important issue. In order to solve this psychological problem, a relational analysis between self-esteem, depression and stress is needed. Therefore, this study has examined the self-esteem, depression and stress of students in dental hygiene department by school system and looked into the correlation between these factors. A survey using an individual self entry method was conducted targeting 98 students of a three year course dental hygiene department and 164 students of a four year course dental hygiene department. As a result of this study, self-esteem was shown to be slightly higher for a four year course students than the three year students and for depression index and stress index, it was shown slightly higher for a three year course students than the four year course students. When examining the correlation between the self-esteem, depression and stress, when the self-esteem was higher depression index and stress index was lower, and when the self-esteem was lower the depression index and stress index was shown to be higher.

향후 구강보건 관련업무를 담당할 치위생(학)과 학생들의 자아존중감 및 정신건강관리는 중요한 문제이며 이러한 심리적 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 자아존중감과 우울, 스트레스간의 관계 분석이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에 서는 치위생(학)과 학생들의 자아존중감 및 우울, 스트레스를 학제 별로 살펴보고 이러한 요소들 간의 상관관계를 알아보고자 하였다. 3년제 치위생과 학생 98명, 4년제 치위생학과 학생 164명을 대상으로 개별자기기입법에 의한 설문조사로 조사하였다. 본 연구결과 자아존중감은 3년제 학생보다 4년제 학생들이 약간 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 우울지수와 스트레스 지수는 3년제 학생이 4년제 학생들보다 약간 높은 것으로 나타났다. 자아존중감과 우울 및 스트레스와의 상관관계를 살펴보았을 때, 자아존중감이 높을수록 우울지수와 스트레스 지수가 낮고, 자아존중감이 낮을수록 우울지수와 스트레스 지수가 높은 것으로 나타났다.
