This study was to find the intrinsic value of mature learners learning experience byway of viewing the learning experience of adults with learning experiences in daily life from their own perspective. Using a phenomenological research method, this study analyzed the six participants' qualitative data obtained through in-depth interviews. In regard to major findings, the essence of an individual adult's learning experience was intuitively perceived as "aspired to continue learning in life's journey". The study was able to explain the subcategories by extracting the meaning structure which formed the essence of an adult's learning experience that consist of the learning-recognition of "learning and experience from family", "learning and experience from workplace and fellow worker" and "learning and experience from society and others". This study discussed the practice of lifelong learning related to learning experience of adult learner based on the results and suggested that further study which stimulate the lifelong learning needs to be continued.

본 연구는 뒤늦게 학교 이후의 평생학습에 참여하고 있는 ‘중년기 늦깎이 성인 학습자’ 들이 가족, 일터, 사회에서의 일상생활을 통 해 어떠한 ‘학습경험’을 하고 있으며, 이를 통 해 어떠한 ‘학습의 즐거움과 성장’을 하고 있 는가를 현상학적으로 밝혀보기 위한 목적으 로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 성인기와 노년기에 해당하는 40대부터 60대까지 ‘늦깎이 성인학 습자’ 6명의 일상생활과 그 안에서 그들이 느 끼고 경험하는 ‘학습의 즐거움과 성장’을 심 층 인터뷰를 통해 탐구하고자 하였다. 연구결 과 늦깎이 성인학습자들은 일상생활을 통해 다양한 학습의 성장과 즐거움을 경험하고 있 는 것으로 나타났다. ‘가족이라는 소우주로 부터의 학습경험과 성장 : 가족이라는 울타리 안에서 만난 관계의 지혜’, ‘일터라는 학교 : 일의 세계에서 찾게 된 새로운 나’, ‘세상 속 넓은 학교 사회 : 함께하는 지혜로움’ 을 발견 할 수 있었으며, 연구참여자들의 경험을 통해 성인학습자들 특히 늦깎이 학습자들의 학습 경험과 즐거움, 의미 부여는 ‘삶의 여정 속 영 속적 희구(希求)’ 으로 귀결되고 있음을 발견 할 수 있었다.
