Metaphors are not only a linguistic phenomenon but are also a way ofthinking, and are one of the basic ways of human existence and cognition,rooted in language, thought, and culture. Metaphors are the main form ofvocabulary. Chinese and English languages are different carriers of culture,which reflects a different way of thinking, behaving, and expressing culturalpatterns. Based on the text, the association of nature and geographical environmentis not the same, the association of social and historical background is different,the association of religious beliefs and ideas are different, the association ofvalues is different, and the association of customs and practices are different. We will research the differences in creations of metaphors and existence ofunderstanding among Chinese and English, two kinds of languages’ vocabulary. And analyzed from a cross cultural perspective, the use of a comparativeanalysis method coincides with Chinese-English vocabulary metaphors,diversity, vacancies and other aspects of language phenomena, while exploringtheir similarities and differences. When learning Chinese and English as a foreign language, the use of thesecultural differences and differences in vocabulary can help to effectively developcultural sensitivity and flexibility in the use of language ability, helping tosuccessfully foster cross-cultural communication.

비유는 언어현상일 뿐만 아니라 일종의 사유방식으로 인류생존과 인지의 기본방식중의 하나인데 그것은 언어 와 사유 그리고 문화 속에 뿌리 박혀있다. 비유의 주요표현 형식은 언어속의 어휘이다. 영어와 중국어의 사용 자들의 사유방식과 행동방식 그리고 문화양식 등이 언어속의 어휘로 반영되어 있다. 본 논문은 자연환경, 사회 역사 배경, 종교 신앙 관념, 가치관,풍속 습관 등의 다름으로 인해 영어와 중국어 두 가지 언어속의 어휘 중에 비유로 인해 생긴이해의 차이에 대해 토론해 보려고 한다. 아울러 다문화적 관점에서 대조분석의 방법을 활용 해 영중 어휘에 비유된 공통점과 다양성 그리고 결핍된 언어현상에 대해 분석해 보고 또 그차이점을 깊이 연구 해 보려고 한다. 영중 어휘의 문화적 차이는 다문화 커뮤니케이션의 한 양상으로 볼 수 있으며, 메시지의송신자가 한 문화의 일 원이고, 메시지의 수신자는 다른 문화의 일원일 경우에 일어나는 커뮤니케이션이다. 따라서 다른 문화적 배경 을 가진 사람들 사이에서 일어나는 상호작용적, 상징적 과정이라고 볼 수 있다. 타 문화에 대한 민감도와 효과 적으로 다른 문화 사이에서 의사소통을 할 수 있는 능력을 다문화 커뮤니케이션 능력이라 할 수 있다. 영어와 중국어를 습득하는데 있어서 이러한 문화차이와 어휘의 차이를 응용하면 성공적으로 다문화 커뮤니케 이션의 목적을 달성 할 수 있다.
