It is interesting to confirm the linguistic facts through the manuscripts that act as a live witness in a particular period. In this paper I have examined the manuscript Seonjo-Kukmun-Yuseo (宣祖國文諭書) written in the Korean alphabet in the latter half of the 16th century, especially against the Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592. I surveyed this manuscript and the related remains in the foundations of the original and interviews with the people concerned. I also discussed the problems connected with the type and name of this manuscript. Moreover, I presented a translation and annotation of this manuscript and arranged the linguistic features of it in aspects of notation, phonology, morphology, syntax and lexicology.

특정 시대의 살아 있는 증인과 같은 역할을 하는 고문서를 통해 당시의 언어적 사실을 확인하는 일은 매우 흥미로운 작업이다. 본고는 16세기 말 임진왜란을 배경으로 작성된 한글 고문서인 ｢宣祖國文諭書｣를 국어학적 사료로서 보다 세밀하게 조명해 보았다. 먼저 문서 및 관련 유적들의 최근 모습을 살펴보고 문서의 서지 사항을 실물 및 전시 박물관 측과 소장자의 진술을 통해 검토한 후 문서의 명칭에 대해 논의해 보았다. 또한 문서의 판독을 기초로 그 내용에 대해 역주를 하고 문서에 사용된 언어의 국어학적 특징들을 표기, 음운, 형태, 통사, 어휘의 차원에서 정리해 보았다.
