This study has executed content analysis in order to find the trends and directions of recent citizen participation studies in Korea. Using data of 241 papers published in 1998~2011 in Korea, this paper investigated on characteristics of research journal and author, research methodology and contents of research topic on citizen participation. The characteristics of research journal and author included published date of journal, journal area, number of author and locus of author. The research method, channel, level, type, function, regional coverage, size and object of citizen participation were considered as variables related the research methodology and contents of research topic. Based on results of content analysis, this paper discussed about constructive implications and future directions for improvement of citizen participation research.

본 연구에서는 국내 주민참여 연구의 경향을 파악한 후, 향후 연구 방향을 제시하기 위하여 내용분석을 실시하였다. 1998-2011년까지의 국내 주민참여 관련 학술지 게재논문을 분석에 이용하였다. 주요 기본 변수로는 게재년도, 학술지 분야, 연구자 특성, 연구방법이 고려되었으며, 주민참여 내용 관련 변수로는 주민참여방법, 주민참여수준, 주민참여기능, 주민참여범위, 주민참여규모, 주민참여대상이 포함되었으며, 각 변수별 기준에 기초하여 범주화 시켰다. 내용분석을 위해 선정된 변수들의 경향분석 뿐만 아니라 주요 변수들 간의 관련성을 알아보기 위하여 탐색적으로 교차분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구에서는 지금까지 국내 등재 학술지에 발표된 주민참여 연구들을 대상으로 연구경향 및 부족한 점을 추출하여, 향후 이 분야에서의 연구가 나아갈 방향을 제시하였다는 점에서 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다.
