Typography is one of the most important learning in the field of graphic design and typography designers must be able to identify and express the relationship between message(the spoken word) and typography(produced visual word). Through the research of 3 weeks typography curriculum of Rochester institute of Technology which is in New York states of the United States, I developed 8 weeks typography hierarchy education curriculum from a Rochester institute of Technology typography educational model. This study was progressed mainly with basic brief explanation of typography terms and typography hierarchy process. these are consist of understanding from client communication, not showing any type differences, insulting line spaces between type lines, using weight variable to types, reordering text, shifting size of type. It contains important education principle of typographic hierarchy expressions. This article will be useful to the students who are going to take foundation typography courses. Through the typography process study of this Kind of subjects, students can develop their typography legibility and readability. I expect that instructors also try to make relative studies for a better teaching.

타이포그래피는 그래픽 디자인에 있어 가장 중요한 학문의 분야중의 하나라고 할 수 있다. 타이포그래피 위계교육을 국내 학생들의 환경에 맞게 8주간의 교과 과정으로 응용 발전시킨 교육모델에 관한 내용이다. 타이포그래피에 관한 기본적인 용어 설명과 타이포그래피 위계 프로젝트에 대한 각 과정별 시각 결과물의 분석 및 학습교육 지도 목표소개를 중심으로 연구를 전개하였다. 메시지의 의미 파악하기 글줄사이 간격 띄워 표현하기, 굵은 서체 적용하기, 공간에서 자유로운 재 정렬 글씨크기 변화하기, 그리고 각종 그래픽 보조선을 활용하는 타이포그래피 선의 적용에 이르기까지 주요한 타이포그래피 위계 표현법의 각 단계별 교육내용을 담고 있다. 이 논문을 통하여 저학년 타이포그래피 기초과정 교육에서의 활용에 유용하게 적용되었다. 텍스트 정보의 절제된 사용원인과 방법을 학습인지 하게 되면 단계적 타이포그래피의 시인성과 가독성 증가 과정학습을 통한 학습효과가 이루어지고 있으며 이로 인한 관련 사례 연구개발에 대한 확장 일례가 될 수 있을 것이다. 또한 전국 디자인 대학의 기초 타이포그래피교육 콘텐츠 확장에 작은 도움이 될 것으로 기대해 본다.
