This study was intended to look into how school safety education for coping with accidents and disasters is given in Korea and, centering around problems revealed in comparison with school safety education in Japan, to propose countermeasures against school safety education in Korea. As a result, the conclusion drawn is as follows. First, it was found that reinforcement of actual safety education linked to educational courses and discussion about status of safety education are needed. Second, it was found that it is urgent to reinforce safety education system in preparation for disasters. Third, it was found that it is necessary to secure textbooks for disaster & safety education and to develop evacuation manuals at the time of occurrence of disasters. Fourth, it was found that the safety education for teachers must be compulsorily carried out. Fifth, safety education through linkage with competent governmental agencies and outside agencies must be vitalized. Sixth, it was found that it is necessary to establish disaster․safety expert support organizations with respect to school facilities and environment. In conclusion, it was found that it is required that laws related to school safety be integrated and linkage between them be reinforced.

본 연구에서는 사고와 재난에 대비할 수 있는 우리나라의 학교안전교육이 어떻게 이루 어지고 있는지를 파악하고, 일본의 학교안전 교육과 대비하여 드러난 문제점을 중심으로 앞으로 우리나라의 학교안전 교육에 대한 대안을 제시하고자 하였다. 그 결과 도출된 결론은 아래와 같다. 첫째, 교육과정과 연계된 실제적 안전교육의 강화 및 안전교육 위상에 대한 논의가 필 요한 것으로 나타났으며, 둘째, 재난에 대비한 안전교육 시스템 강화가 시급한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 실효성 있는 재난안전 교육교재와 재난발생시 대피 메뉴얼 개발이 필요 한 것으로 나타났으며, 넷째, 교사의 안전교육 의무화가 강화되어야 하는 것으로 나타났 다. 다섯째, 유관부처, 외부교육기관과의 연계를 통한 안전교육의 활성화가 필요한 것 으로 나타났으며, 여섯째, 학교시설 및 환경에 관한 재난․안전 전문지원기관 설립이 필요 한 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 학교안전과 관련된 법률들의 단일화 및 연계성 강화가 필요한 것으로 나타났다.
