The purpose of this study is to analyze and examine the level of consciousness of athletes about misbehavior thatcan appear during golf tournaments. Unlike other sports, the role of judges is relatively insignificant in golf andjudges do not directly watch the entire round. There are other players around, but misbehavior in golf generallydepends on the conscience of individual athletes. Therefore, this study analyzed and discussed the necessity forexpanded role of judges and the level of consciousness about misbehavior. Among elite golfers residing in metropolitancity A, 10 golfers were selected as final subjects of this study based on purposeful sampling as a type ofnon-probability sampling. The results are as follows. First, as diverse misbehavior can appear in golf, it wasdeemed as necessary to reinforce and expand the role of judges. Second, reasons why athletes can overcometemptation for misbehavior were divided into three types: ethicality of individual athlete, penalty received whencaught, and problems in one's public image when caught. Although ethicality and penalty can be easily considered,the problem of public image of athletes shows unique property of the modern society. This is a phenomenonthat simultaneously shows the structures of panopticon, synopticon and banopticon, which are discussed indepth in this study.

이 연구는 골프 경기 중 나타날 수 있는 부정행위에 대한 선수들의 의식수준을 분석하고 고찰하는데 목적이 있다. 골프는 다른 스포츠와는 달리 심판의 역할이 상대적으로 적으며, 심판이 모든 경기를 전부 직접 지켜보지 않는다는 특성이 있다. 함께 플레이하는 다른 선수들이 있지만, 일반적으로 부정행위와 관련해서는 선수 스스로의양심에 의존한다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 심판의 역할 확대에 대한 필요성과 더불어 부정행위에 대한 의식수준을분석하고 고찰하였다. 이를 위해 A광역시를 소재지로 한 엘리트 골프선수들 중 비확률표집의 하나인 유목적 표집을 활용하여, 최종 10명을 연구대상자로 선정하였다. 그러한 결과 첫째, 골프는 다양한 부정행위들이 많이 나타날수 있기 때문에 심판의 역할에 대한 강화 및 확대 필요성이 제기되었다. 둘째, 선수들이 부정행위에 대한 유혹을이겨내는 원인은 크게 3가지 유형으로 나타났다. 그것은 선수 개인의 윤리성, 적발시 받게 되는 페널티, 적발시나타날 수 있는 본인의 이미지 문제 등이었다. 선수 개인의 윤리성이나 페널티의 문제는 일반적으로 쉽게 생각해볼 수 있는 영역이지만 선수의 이미지 문제는 현대사회의 독특한 특성을 보여주는 것이라 할 수 있다. 마지막으로 이 연구는 전형적인 사회과학의 연구방법을 활용하였으나 인문학적, 그 중에서도 철학적 논의로 이루어진 것으로써 사회과학과 인문학의 통합 연구라 할 수 있다. 철학적 방향을 제시하기 위해 사회과학 연구방법을 동원하여 보다 구체적이며, 논리적인 결론으로 귀결시킬 수 있도록 하였다.
