This article is a reflectional paper on "the pilgrimage of Life and Justice" from Paengmok port to Ansan, Korea which had been done from August 11th to 30th of 2014 leading by the author with seminarians, pastors, theologians and Christians of the Presbyterian Church of Korea. More than 40 Presbyterian churches including one methodist and episcopal church had supported this pilgrimage with food, water, and rest place to sleep. This pilgrimage was a faithful response to the ferry ship "Sewol" disaster praying for the founding of missing 10 victims, legislation of the special law related with Sewol ferry tragedy, and the recovery of the Korean society and the church respecting the value of life and justice of God. In this article, firstly, I have recorded this pilgrimage as a historical event of the Protestant Church of Korea responding to the social crisis, named Sewol disaster which has been caused by the impact of globalization of the socio-economic, political, and cultural spheres in the Korean society. Secondly, I have analyzed the meaning of pilgrimage in three aspects. It was a concrete response and an expression of solidarity to the message of 10th WCC, "join the pilgrimage of justice and peace." It played as a place of theological education for the participants through the daily worship, prayer meeting, silent walking, meditation, theological discussion, and spiritual reflection. Furthermore, it had given pilgrims spaces of psychological, emotional and spiritual healing. Reflecting these meanings of the pilgrimage, I hope that the Korean church and Christians can cry with those people who are crying and struggling and create a healing ministry with the marginalized as the marginalized subjects.

본 연구는 지난 2014년 4월 16일에 발생한 세월호 침몰 사건이후 ‘기독교의 생명과 정의의 도보순례단’을 꾸려 순례를 다녀온 이후 이에 대한 기록과 성찰의 필요성을 느끼며 진행되었다. 순례는 20일간 590 km의 거리를 개신교 신학생과 목회자, 신학자를 포함하여 250명의 개신교 성도들의 참여와 40여 교회의 도움으로 가능하였다. 순례는 실종자의 귀환과 유가족이 원하는 특별법의 제정, 그리고 하나님의 생명과 정의의 가치가 회복되는 사회와 교회의 회복을 위해 기도하며 8월 11일 팽목항을 출발하여 8월 30일 안산 화랑유원지에 설치된 희생자 참배소를 향해 걷는 순례였다. 장기봉사자와 소수의 순례단으로 시작하였지만 잊혀 가던 실종자와 그 가족의 고통에 함께 하는 공감적 인식이 확산되고 다른 형태의 순례와 기도회로 이어지는 모습을 보면서 이 순례에 대한 의미를 정리하게 되었다. 이 글은 도보순례의 시작, 진행과 마무리의 내용으로 구성된 순례기록의 포함하여 신학도들에게 교육의 공간으로서 역할을 하기도 한 기독교 도보순례의 의미를 담았다. 또한 세계교회와의 연대의 의미를 가지는 순례, 치유공간으로서의 순례의 의미를 성찰하였다. 특히 신학교육적 측면에서 순례를 통해 경험한 예배와 예전교육, 환대경험을 통한 교회론의 사유, 그리고 침묵의 경험이 이끈 영성교육으로서의 의미를 서술하였다. 세월호 사건과 그에 대한 기독교의 응답이 된 이 순례를 통해 슬픔을 당하는 자와 더불어 울고, 함께 치유의 세계로 이끄는 희망의 사역이 한국교회에 일어나길 소망한다.
