The purpose of this study is to look into China’s position on the Korean Peninsula West Sea dispute through analysis of news reporting frames. First, we analyzed the news reporting frames of Korean-Chinese newspapers. Second, the differences of news frame among Korean-Chinese newspapers were investigated. Finally, the position of China was analyzed. The results show that the newspapers are mainly reporting the North and South West Sea dispute with responsibility attribution frame and conflict frame. It is determined that the China is dealing with the conflicts between the South and North Korea in two ways. That is, if conflict is judged to be common without further expansion, China is most likely to take a reporter role. However, when China judges that a dispute in the West Sea is serious, and conflict is likely to be expanded, China seems to take a coordinator role or peninsula administrator role in order to resolve the conflicts in a peaceful manner with Russia, the United States, and Japan.

본 논문은 한반도 서해상 발생한 남북한분쟁에 대한 중국동포신문의 보도프레임 연구이다. 연구목적은 첫째, 서해상 발생한 남북한분쟁에 대한 보도 프레임유형을 분석하는 것이다. 둘째, 중국동포신문들의 보도 프레임 차이점이 무엇인지 비교해 보는 것이다. 그리고 마지막으로 중국동포신문의 보도프레임 분석을 통 해 중국의 대한반도 서해분쟁에 대한 입장은 무엇인지 구명해 보는 것이다. 연구결과 중국 동포신문에 보도 된 남북한 서해상 분쟁에 대한 보도프레임은 주로 갈등프레임과 동북아질서와 대국의 역할프레임 중심으 로 보도되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이는 중국이 서해상 발생한 남북한 간의 갈등을 두 가지로 구분 대응하는 입장 때문인 것으로 판단된다. 즉, 하나는 갈등의 정도가 일반적이고 확대될 가능성이 높지 않다고 판단되 면, 남북한 간의 분쟁에 대해 영향력을 행사하거나 문제 해결자 입장이 아닌 남북갈등관계를 갈등이 존재하 고 그 갈등이 어떻게 전개되고 현재는 어떤 상태인지 보도하는 보도자 역할에 머물러 있음을 알 수 있었다. 두 번째는 한반도 서해상에서 분쟁이 심각하고 확전 가능성이 높다고 판단될 때, 이때는 미국, 일본, 러시아 와 함께 평화적인 방법으로 해결해야하는 대국들의 역할을 중시하는 입장을 보임으로 대국으로서의 조정 자 역할 내지는 한반도 관리자 역할을 보이고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
