The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of the maternal efficacy of mothers on the emotional Intelligence of preschoolers. The subjects in this study were 156 mothers whose children attended kindergartens in Gyeonggi Province. The findings of the study were as follows: First, the preschool children of the selected mothers were better at self-awareness, self-regulation, awareness of others, regulation of others/interpersonal relationships and emotional awareness when the mothers had a better maternal efficacy. Second, Emotional Intelligence of the preschoolers were better when the mothers had a better ability to support their education. Therefore early childhood education institutions should provide substantial assistance, such as parent education and counseling, for parents to improve their parental efficacy to boost the Emotional Intelligence Quotient of their preschool children.

본 논문의 연구목적에서는 어머니의 양육효능감이 유아의 정서지능에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 알 아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 경기도 소재 유치원에 다니는 어머니 156 명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째 어머니가 양육효능감이 높을수록 자기인식․ 표현능력과 자기조절능력, 타인인식능력, 타인조절․대인관계능력, 그리고 정서지능이 높은 것으로 나 타났다. 둘째, 어머니의 양육효능감의 하위변인인 교육지원능력이 높을수록 유아는 정서지능이 높음을 알 수 있다. 따라서 유아의 정서지능을 높이기 위해서 유아교육 현장에서는 부모교육, 프로그램과 상 담 등으로 부모의 양육효능감을 높일 수 있는 실질적인 도움을 제공할 필요가 있다.
