This research is designed to learn not only the effects of Group Music Therapy on schizophrenia patients’ relationship and the quality of their life, but also the durability of its effects. For this research, chronic 30 schizophrenic patients were selected from the daytime care center located at I city, most of whom are participating in the daytime rehabilitation program. Both experimental groups and control groups consist of 15 patients. In the experimental group, total 15 sessions of treatments were proceeded for 50 minutes once a week, while nothing done in the control group. The relationship and the quality of life in two groups are also measured before and after the research to observe the effect of Music Therapy program. And two months later, the durability of its effect was also measured through the afterward-treatment. The result is as followed. First of all, there is no any meaningful difference between before- and after-experiment, even afterward-treatment in the experimental group’s relationship. However In the understandable sub-region of relationship, there are meaningful differences between before- and after-experiment. Although this result could be analyzed as if music therapy program didn’t have meaningful effects on schizophrenia patients, to some extent, the possible effects are expected in the particular understanding fields. There was no any meaningful difference between before- and after experiments on their relationship in the control group. On the other hand, in the index of life quality of experimental group, the meaningful improvement was shown more than before. It seems to be helpful the improvement of those patients’ life quality in the actual life by converting their negative thoughts into positive ones. The quality of life in the control group didn’t make any meaningful differences among before-, after-, and afterward-treatments. most of them remained in the condition of unemployment and even couldn’t attend any economic activities as schizophrenic patients. In this reason, schizophrenic patients’ subjective assessment seems to bring the decline of their life quality. In conclusion, although Group Music Therapy didn’t have any meaningful effects on the schizophrenic patients’ relation, there must be a meaningful effect on the quality of life. Also, the effect of music therapy seems to continue, to some degree, after 2 months.

본 연구는 집단음악치료가 정신분열병환자의 대인관계와 삶의 질에 미치는 효과와 효 과의 지속성에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 연구의 대상은 I시에 소재한 주간보호센터의 주간 재활프로그램에 참여하는 정신분열병환자 30명을 선정하였다. 실험집단 15명과 통제집단 15명을 구성하였고, 실험집단은 주 1회 50분으로 총 15회기의 집단음악치료 를 실시하였고 통제집단은 아무런 처치를 하지 않았다. 두 집단 모두 대인관계와 삶 의 질을 사전-사후에 측정하여 음악치료프로그램의 효과를 살펴보았다. 그리고 2개월 후 추후검사를 통해 음악치료프로그램 효과의 지속성에 대해서도 살펴보았다. 그 결과를 보면 다음과 같다. 우선 실험집단에서는 대인관계에서 사전과 사후 및 추후검사에서 유의미한 차이를 보이 지 않았다. 그러나 대인관계의 하위영역인 이해성 영역에서는 사전과 사후에 유의미한 차이를 보였으며, 이것은 전체적으로 음악치료가 정신분열병환자의 대인관계에는 유의미 한 영향을 미치지는 못하지만, 특정한 이해성 영역에는 효과가 있는 것으로 해석된다. 통제집단의 대인관계는 사전-사후-추후검사에서 의미 있는 차이를 보이지 않았다. 실험집단의 삶의 질 척도에서 삶의 질이 사전에 비하여 사후와 추후에 의미 있는 향 상을 보였다. 다만 삶의 질 하위영역인 정서적인 영역에서만 효과를 보이지 않았다. 이는 부정적 사고에서 긍정적인 사고의 전환으로 환자들의 실제 생활 속에서의 삶의 질 향상에도 도움이 된 것으로 본다. 통제집단의 삶의 질은 사전-사후-추후검사에서 의미 있는 차이를 보이지 않았다. 그 중 삶의 질의 하위영역인 경제적 영역에는 부정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 정신분열병으로 인해 대다수 미취업 상태에 있어 경제적인 활동을 하지 못한다. 이로 인해 정신분열병환자들이 느끼는 주간적인 평가들이 삶의 질의 저하를 가져온 것으로 보인다. 결과적으로 집단음악치료는 정신분열병 환자의 대인관계에는 유의미한 효과를 보이지는 않았으나 삶의 질에서는 유의미한 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 음악 치료 효과의 지속성이 2개월 후에도 어느 정도 유지되고 있는 것으로 여겨진다.
